He’s Just That Into You: 10 Old-Fashioned Signs You’ve Got Your Guy Completely Hooked

They say the old-fashioned way is best when it comes to romance and I have to agree. So many of us are stumbling through this hook-up culture we’ve developed, with apps like Tinder allowing us to have an endless pool of candidates at our fingertips — literally.
The problem is that we rarely make meaningful connections, and when we do, we have a hard time trusting them.
The good news is, when you meet someone with whom you click, all that fades away and you’re left with the basics.
Certain things are human nature and there are a few innate behaviors we can’t help but adopt when we’re enamored with someone.
So, to help you tell differentiate between what’s real and what’s not, I’ve put together a list of 10 telltale signs a guy is into you:

1. He maintains regular contact with you

I don’t mean that he calls you every waking moment of the day, but he also doesn’t disappear for days at a time. When a guy is into you, he keeps in contact as much as possible.
He also contacts you throughout the day, not just after midnight. And, he’s not afraid to pick up the phone and call you every once in a while.

2. He asks about your day

When a guy is into you, he wants to know what’s going on in your life and will listen with genuine intrigue, because he’ll find every aspect of you fascinating and will want to be kept in the loop.
He’ll remember when you have a big test coming up or are nervous about an interview and will wish you luck, without you needing to ask.

3. He takes an interest in your interests

Along those same lines, when a guy is into you, he’ll sit through a Drake concert even though he hates it just because he knows Drake is your favorite.
He’ll tag along to the science museum with you, even though he couldn’t be less interested because he likes to see you smile and wants to be a part of your world.

4. He brings you around his friends and family

You know a guy is into you when in addition to wanting to be a part of your world, he makes you a part of his world, as well.
A man who is really interested in you will introduce you to his friends and family and have you frequent his closest circle because he wants to integrate you into that group, if possible.

5. He’s respectful of your time

He doesn’t stand you up, he’s not late and he doesn’t ask you out as a last resort.
When a guy is into you, he books your time well in advance and keeps you in the loop about his estimated arrival time, because he respects you and is just happy you’re choosing to spend your time with him.

6. He makes time for you

So many guys come up with excuses and cancel plans. Sometimes, the excuses are legitimate, but most of a time, if a guy is putting you off, he’s not that into you.
Men — just like women — make time for things that matter and prioritize accordingly. If he is into you, he’ll find a way to see you.

7. He takes you out to places where he can hear you speak

A loud bar, club and other VIP settings are all fun, but they are not the sort of places where lasting relationships are made. If you find that these are the only places he ever takes you, ask yourself what his intentions are.
A guy who is into you will take you somewhere he can hear you speak and bond with you, because he values you for your mind in addition to your body.

8. He has you saved on his phone properly

This may seem like a small thing, but our phones are like the modern version of the little black book. If you’re not saved on his phone, that’s a bad sign.
If your name needs a qualifier, like “Susie Gym Class,” that’s also not a good sign. Generally, when a guy is into you, he’ll take the time to save you on his phone properly and have no need for an identifying title (excluding, of course, any affectionate nicknames he develops for you later on).

9. He tries to make a good impression

If the guy you’re seeing never makes any effort to dress up when you’re around, stand up a little straighter or make sure that adorable cowlick stays down, then I hate to break it to you, but he’s probably not that into you.
A guy who is into you will want to make a good impression and do little things when you’re around, the same way women go the extra mile to get especially dolled up before a highly-anticipated date.

10. He hints at a second date before leaving the first

When a guy is into you, you’ll know it. He won’t want to want to risk someone else snatching you up. He’ll want you to know he’s interested and will drop hints about a second date before even leaving the first in hopes you feel the same way.
Is your guy doing these behaviors? If so, you’re in luck — he’s hooked! If not, move on. Life is too short to waste your time on someone who’s simply not interested.
